Moving along the color wheel from the 2013 Pantone Color of the year of Emerald Green, Pantone Color Institute announced a rallying color of Radiant Orchid. Almost an exact complementary of Emerald Green, Radiant Orchid shows us that fashion, interiors, and artists are thinking in a completely new direction. We look forward to new innovation and creativity coming from this color. With it’s light shades of purple and magenta hues, Radiant Orchid is subtle when used among stronger, more vibrant colors, but stands on out on its own when used solo.
“While the 2013 color of the year, PANTONE 17-5641 Emerald, served as a symbol of growth, renewal and prosperity, Radiant Orchid reaches across the color wheel to intrigue the eye and spark the imagination,” stated Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”
According to the Chicago Tribune, “The [Pantone] choice is influenced by movies in production, fashion runways, traveling exhibitions, new artists, technology, travel hot spots, sports and other socio-economic conditions.”
